Post K&N 63-3514 Cold Air Install on MY 2006

Hello!

I ordered K&N's "Aircharger" for my 2006 S2000, and it
finally arrived today at lunch! I've completed installation,
and put up a bunch of pictures with details on installation
gotchas, notes, etc. Feel free to take a look:
K&N Cold Air Installation
Please let me know your comments/suggestions!

So, with tools still scattered on the garage floor, I took
it out for a quick spin. It's definitely louder. I'm going
to keep an eye on gas mileage and see how it goes...
With only a few HP increase (I'm guessing), I don't think
I'll feel much of a change in acceleration.

Thanks,
Brian

has it helped with the heat soak at all? Does the "Seal" from the rest of the bay seem pretty good?

isnt the air charger the..."FIPK intake". i just installed one on my 2000 s2k. i took it through twisties, and it feels much faster i think, much louder and heat soak is gone...only time you feel heat soak is when you pull out in first after your stopped at a light for a few seconds, and once you get going, heat soak is gone.

i love it!!!

Let's see... I got it for $261 from "Auto Anything".
Whoops, I need to "track topics", eh? I didn't know
there were replies.

What is 'heat soak'?? I don't know if there was or is...

I wiggled everything and all seems tight. After starting
the engine, I poked around again. Then I drove up
and down the street and poked around again. Finally,
I drove up and down the freeway and then poked
around once more. Seems pretty sealed to me.

My imagination tells me there's a little extra punch
(especially if you keep it up around 6000RPM), and
the extra VROOM is very cool too.

I don't see the point in spending 200+ dollars on something that looks like the stock airbox with the lid off... how can this be more efficient than the stock airbox?

Take a look at my link and you'll see it's very different than just the stock
airbox with the lid off. The enclosure around the K&N filter seals up
against the hood, blocking off air from the right side and rear (adding
a heat shield would improve the situation even more, I'm sure). Air
can now only come from the left, which pretty much means out of
the radiator = cooler air. The stock box also points only to the front,
but is much more enclosed, limiting the amount of air that can get
in. Benefits are small, yes, but I find them worth it:
1 - increased room in the engine bay = easier to work on it.
2 - lighter
3 - sounds better
4 - tiny HP gain (you can feel it for sure, even without headers or exhaust)
5 - bling? Not really..

Worth $200? Well, to each his own. I'd do it again.
