Default just installed brand new my 04 transmission in my

Finally installed my brand new 04 transmission(or 05)in my 01.The new box is VERY notchy when cold, but when its warm it shifts like butter!!!The change in the first four gears is very evident, fifth feels about the same and sixth is also noticably taller.I put in gm fm right from the get go,no honda mtf in this box!!So if anyone has to replace there ailing old transmission, then you might want to consider one of the newer transmissions.

Interesting! From my own experience(and many others here that posted about problems with their trannies) and after listening to the buzz, I like the old one much better.

I'm in the process of waiting for parts and getting it fix, yep..., new car with 500 miles on odo' is getting a tranny surgery already. Gotta love "the new-improved" transmission!

Interesting. I would say I have to agree with you, that the tranny is probably a little more notchy than my 02. But specially 2nd gear. 2nd gear is rather notchy when cold, if I shift rather slower than usual, it will sort of grind very lightly. but once the tranny is warm it is butter to shift. And speed shifting seems to be defenitely better and easier. I ran Honda MTF for the break-in and after that I ran MT90. So i didnt notice any differences between Honda MTF and MT90.

As far as cost goes,i can only say that it cost me NOTHING i actually was paid to install it!!!The length of time to get one is around one week from the dealer that is.If you're going to get it from honda you should be ready to grab you're ankles!!!Its going to hurt!!I would recommend finding one from ebay or a salvage yard. They usually run about $1500.00 to $2000.00.As far as noise goes it the first time i've heard anything about it.Noise with the updated friction disk????

As much as I don't want word to get out , those of us with the 4.57's would be well served with the taller sixth gear. Flow-of-traffic speeds here are 75-85mph. At 80mph, I run at 5k rpm. I just don't have the duckettes right now. I think HTG had some for $1500 brand new.

I could use a taller 6th gear... cruising on the highway is making me deaf from my exhaust and my throat hurt from trying to make conversation with the passenger. When my tranny fails I will be getting an 04!
