Doing a trans install is a HUGE undertaking. My mechanic is both looking forward to it $$$$ and dreading it.

A huge undertaking ..... PLEASE ! It is very straight foward . It is much easier on a lift though . I charge $300.00 on the side to do a clutch on one . After reading this perhaps im undercharging

$600? ... some friend
So easy to do, go out and buy truck jackstands so you feel safe under there and you got enough height to drop it, then just do the damn thing.

So... I'm an idiot. I had my BMW mechanic friend adjust the master cylinder and bleed the clutch.
No more fifth gear grind. The car drove flawlessly on the 2 hour drive back home. Now Im sitting in Steven's Honda in Bloomington, Indiana while they put in my new AP2 trans regardless.
Apparently my AP1 trans was fine, it was a simple clutch adjustment. WTF!!! By the end of the day, I will have spent a TON of money on this.
Oh well. At least my car will be faster.

Got the new AP2 trans in. Car drives great. I DEFINITELY need the speedometer calibrator however. The speedo reads 6.5 mph fast. Anyone who has done this swap without the yellow box doesn't have an accurate speedometer.

Sorry to open a old thread, just thought i'd ask how everything was working for you after a while of having it in. Also how much changed from the ap1 to the ap2 to parts, did you need to change clutch parts? Got a part list?
