Just got a EPS Light and CEL Light need help.
Hey guys...
Got a few problems with 01' S2K today. After a nice "spirited" drive. My EPS light comes on, I lose power steering, next thing you know the Spedo stops registering speed, It just says 0mph. I pull over and check my fuses to make sure none are blown and also looked for anything that may have caused the problem. Didnt find anything noticible. I pulled my ecu reset fuse and restart the car. The EPS light is still there (no power steering) and the speedo still isnt registering. I decide its time to just take the car home. On the way home, I notice my odometer not clocking my milage, either one, trip mode or actual milage. And then that is followed by a CEL. I get home and take a better look around the car, and recheck all the fuses. I called Honda and spoke with a technician and he said all those problems im experiencing are connected to one 7.5 amp fuse, so i recheck all the 7.5 amp fuses and got nothing. Has anyone ever encountered something similar to this? Or does anyone have any advice or opinion on what could be the problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well, I'm sure the CEL is no VSS reading (vehicle speed signal)
The EPS relies on VSS as one of it's inputs, so the steering system is likely ok.
Problem is likely at the trans itself. Chck the connection on the driver's side of the transmission (speed sensor) see if it has been hit with any debris, loose connection, pulled wires, etc.
I would triple check the fuses. The s2k has 3 fuse/relay blocks, be sure you didn't miss any.

Okay, I'll go ahead and check the VSS on the driver's side of the trans. And recheck the fuses again. Is there any fuses i should focus mainly on? Thanks billman.

Happen to have an '01 Manual Handy. The 7.5 fuse the dealer is referring to is #5 on the Under Dash Fuse Relay Box(i.e. EPS Light, Gauge Cluster, etc.). Put your car in reverse and have someone check the "back-up lights". They are also on Fuse #5. If the lights are out then it is 5....if not then we will have to regroup here. Go under the dash and find your hood release. The Under the Dash Fuse block is just to the right midway between the hood release and a large perforated protection plate. There are two rows of fuses on the block on the right side. The #5 fuse will be the fifth up from the bottom on the left bank of fuses (on the right side of the block).

Rechecked the fuses, and checked the reverse lights and both came out negative to the source of the problem. I'm not really sure whats going on with the car, havent had any problems like this in the past with any of them (eps, cel, speedo, odometer) Im just really about the whole deal... I'm going to check the VSS and hopefully that'll be the source of the problem. Anyone else have any ideas? Thanks again.
