Its been a costly journey with my s2k.
My story:
I bought the car used 02' 17k miles.
After 2 months I get CEL and take it to dealer, they tell me that it has bad injectores so under warranty they replace all 4 injectors.
I'm happy leave smiling.
2 months later CEL on, go back to dealer. Sir, you might have bent valves but we're not covering it under warranty because we believe it's your fault so your choices are A) let us take the head apart and look and charge you $1200.00 for labor and we leave the head off if we find that the vavles are bent and you tow it home or B) charge you $2500 if the vavles are bent and fix the problem.
Lo and behold the valves in #4 break on me and the engine is cracked.
I bought a practically new F22C and is now sitting in my car. Installed it at home at a cost of $4000.00.
That is my story I can rant on and on but I won't.
I just hurts that my dream HOnda has given me so much grief. I have owned many Hondas in the past but this experience is having a great affect on me owning another one.
One of the most annoying things was hearing the service dept blame me for all the problems.

Yes I highly recommend doing that if possible and removing the valve cover to check the internals from on top at least.
I should've done all of that too but I went with trust before buying and got burned among other things.

I'm really wondering if it is the rings...
There is NO smoke at all at start up, if the rings were getting that much blowby there should at least be some grey smoke coming out of the pipes, and i had someone check and there is none present..I need to adjust these valves and see if that helps bring the compression up.

well in my previous threads talks about how I had bad compression in #1 cylinder...
Well...I figured the motor was going to be needed to be rebuilt anyway, and I just bought it...which really sucks but anyway, I put some lucas synthetic oil treatment in the motor, some fuel treatment... since lucas helped me get some compression back in a few previous motors... well today it finally gave on me.
I was in vtec in first gear and I heard a POOF, I look behind me and saw the smoke, after that I knew it was gone...so I'm about to do another compression and leakdown test.
Anybody know how much a set of rings is? and a ball hone? I'm gonna go ahead pull the head off, pull the pan off, rehone the cylinders and put a new set of rings in it. Its got 47k miles, its a 2003, think the cross/hex (sp?) pattern is still on the walls with that mileage or definately needs a new hone?
P.S.~ This sucks.

Well here is the results of the tests.
in the order of 1-2-3-4
compression test
100psi-205psi-215psi-240psi
leakdown test
22%loss-5%loss-5%loss-2%loss
I think I'm only going to change the rings in the first cylinder the others look relatively good, if not on the compression, they do on the leakdown...
