Jiffy Lube Swag?

I worked at Iffy Lube for 2 years. Billman summed it up pretty well. I have done a similar service on just about all my cars, using Seafoam (you can get it anywhere). Cleans up your idle pretty well and also can flush your engine clean and might clean injectors. Its a $10 can for all of it, directions on the label. Pm if you wanna try it

Shell Chevron and Texaco use Techron as a fuel system cleaner. I have no information on how well this additive works but it has been used for many years and of course, in millions of autos. It probably works and even more important, it's proven itself safe. If you really feel you need something more, you can buy a bottle of Techron additive in most parts stores. Still, I would use sparingly, maybe a bottle every 10,000miles?. I'm sure all the majors use some type of additive and if your buying premium fuel you may never need to add any additive.

For what it's worth, I picked up a first gen Insight with 132k miles a few weeks ago and I ran a can of BG44K through the fuel tank. It smoothed out the idle on that car. I usually run a can of it through the S2000 once a year as well just as a preventative maintenance because I don't drive the car that much. I never noticed much of a difference in the S, but it definitely did something to the Insight.

Jiffy lube is stupid.
How can they reccomend the same EXACT interval for EVERYTHING for EVERY single car..
If you dont want to do your own oil changes bring it to a local shop.
You will be sorry once they strip your oil pan and rig it up.

OK well I've read enough. My best advise to you is to go out to your car right now and check the Oil Dipstick level, then check the Oil Pan bolt to make sure it's on snug, and then check the Engine Oil Cap!!! Oh and check the Oil Filter snugness too!
Hopefully you'll report that nothing is loose, missing or low!

This does however bring up a good point! Namely how sincere is the local dealers assertion that the throttle body needs cleaning? Is this more fabricating work BS or is it sage advise?

Sales trump everything including lack of knowledge and professional honesty.
