JIC coilovers do need to be preloaded

Rev, the helper spring is only there to keep a high rate spring from falling out of the cups at full droop, it's not the "problem" here. The real problem here is that the closed length of the rear damper is too long for the lowered application .... period. Rev, don't go in there with this helper spring as the cause of your problems, you'll only confirm your ignorance and lessen the chance of Jon doing something to fix the real problem.
They need to provide you with damper that has a shorter closed length.

Not to aggravate anyone but bottoming out a damper *lightly* once or twice might not kill it. But lots of *bang* type noises when bottoming out makes me wonder how well the dampers are now doing. Even if you now reset their operating range. It's a very common cause of death for dampers.

Well I pulled my front dampers out when trying to diagnose the clunking. I removed the whole top assy. The damper still felt smooth and there was not any sign of leakage.
But, if there is a problem, I think Kevin at JIC USA will be replacing my dampers for free....If not I will by flying to CA

This is the first time I heard a set of coil-overs suspension needed preloads on the springs..... I think it's kind of screwed up. Other coil-over suspension manufacturers usually recommend 0 preload for best results.
The first time when I use coil-over suspension (it was 7 yrs ago) cuz they are very short stroke so they car was sitting pretty low so the only solution at that time was to raise it by giving preloads to the spring. It was a bitch to add preloads to a 16k/14k spring. After adjustment the ride was horrible.
