Jet Hot is used for 2 reasons. It will make the header pretty, and it will keep more of the heat inside the header. Turbo guys benefit most from the 2nd reason, since the exhaust will travel faster through their turbo.

i read that the use of jet hot coating on outside only is incorrect in that it traps heat in, ACCELERATING the corrosion and failure of the header and creating insufficient heat to catalyst. it will initially look good and underhood temp will be decreased.

they say the proper way to use it requires an application to both INSIDE and outside of pipe. this prevents corrosion, decrease underhood temps and allow hot exhaust to exit more appropriately to allow cat to do its job.

however the inner coating needs to be applied very evenly or u get the problems, and this requires an expert to apply....and probaly costs a lot. good luck....let me know if this is incorrect.

I had my DC header sent out for jet hot coating
http://www.jet-hot.com/home.html
cost = $ 165 + $18 shipping for both the inside and out. No complaints so far.

Is there any benefit to jet hot coating CAI tubes? Also, is ceramic coating heavy?

It might be pretty, and it might insulate the intake air from the heat of the radiator.
