Who is this directed to?

Question for Swift: How long have you had your S2000?
Why would it matter. I have done it this way on all my vehicles over the years. The s2000 is no different when it comes to screwing on a filter.

I am directing ths to anyone who has to use a wrench because the filter was on way to tight. I still use a filter wrench from time to time on a couple of my other vehciles since it is easier to use a wrench to access the filter when removing.

I have had a couple of new cars over the years that a wrench would not even budge the filter. Had to punch a screwdriver through to remove the filter it is not necessary to cranck the filter down.

Apparently, you do not have any experience with the Honda S2000

This is just Wrong!!! Please do not mis-inform others that may encounter a catastophic failure because their car puked out all it's oil because they listened to you and didn't tighten their oil filter properly.

are there lil gremlins loosening my oil filter?

it's 10 o'clock. do you know where your oil filter is? (maint. tip inside)

Check your over sized M1-105 filter for tightness

These are just a few threads. If the search function was working better, I could come up with quite a few more threads in which an S2000 oil filter loosened and puked oil all over the road, and in some case's, the engine bay caught on fire.

I'll stick to Honda's recommendation and tighten to 7/8th turn after gasket contact.. then use a filter wrench to remove because my arms are not biomechanical.. yet.

Okay Jonny mechanic, you don't think filters have come loose F'ed up other vehicles you think the S is the only vehicle vulnerable to having the filter come loose and leak or whatever.

Experience with the S has nothing to do with changing the oil and filter on the S.

If people are ignorant enough to not tighten the filter by hand until it stops and either leave it or back it off 1/4 turn than they have no business changing there own oil. My whole point was not to crank it down. If it works for you great.

Apparently You must be the most experienced s2000 oil changer on the board. You seem to know it all. Have a good day.

You know what is funny about those articles all seem to be other than factory filters.

My intent was not to undermine your integrety, but to prevent mis-information that could cause somebody a potential catasrophic failure.

If an oil filter were to be properly installed, and then backed off 1/4 of a turn, there is a very good chance it will loosen and spew oil everywhere.
