Default JDM f20C swap - ECU/CEL

I've purchased an s2000 year :2000 (us model) from texas imported in canada
the engine was blown (piston rod failure)
I've put a jdm f20c in it

everything runs fine
but I've a CEL p1412 since the beginning
I run 94 octane pump gas here in canada
should i use the us ecu ?
which octane level, the higher compression jdm f20c should run?

I've also feel intermittent lack of power
sometimes it's like the vtec is not engaging
sometimes it's even before reaching 5k rpm
when his hot ..like a towel in the mouth
no power..
and not a very good idle..little bit as a dirty IAC or lack of gas

when we started the jdm motor..with us ecu ..looks ok
but I've not drove it ..just a test..
and when we put the jdm ecu..smell richer
we expect that was better to run the jdm ecu
but I really care about the octane level ..
can he be in a kind of limp mode ?
intermitten lack of power
very frustrating

-sorry if some of my sentences looks weird
english is not my primary language
I look forward to hear from you guys

I've read a lot of topics on this forum
a lot of cool informations
I appreciate

I believe the jdm f20 has a bigger vtec selonoid and that code your getting is for the air pump, I think. You might wanna use the jdm ecu as we'll.

That CEL is "Air Pump Motor Voltage High". You can try checking the fuses and relays to see if any of them have gone bad. If not, you can replace the air pump or, like a lot of people, remove it all together and use a resistor kit to fool the ecu into thinking it's still there and running fine.

I doubt that's the problem though. What sort of condition was the JDM engine in when you got it? Have you tried cleaning the MAP sensor? Spark plugs? Checked the coils? Checked the grounds? Made sure the vtec solenoid screen isn't clogged?

You can get the airpump delete kit here, should work just fine with your JDM engine:
https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/101...mp-delete-kit/
And use the highest octane you can get, safer that way and you get better mileage with the same driving conditions.

The no power thing - could be heat soak (what kind of intake you have installed?)

Personally I'd use the JDM ecu for the JDM engine.
Oh and don't go over 6000 rpm with a cold engine - not sure, but I think they have no vtec rev limiter for a cold engine.

I choosen the engine between some ..in a local JDM import shop
I paid like 700$ more than the others at the same place to get the cleaness
one ..he was just mint..
a lot of cool details...don't know if it's good
steel wires on plugs and screw
added paint on some bolt to check them if they stay at them place
I've put over 25K on this engine..
always filled up with Motul 300V 5w-40
with my own catch can system , sealed system
still using the OE vaccum circuit to help
even after 2000miles oil still crystal clear, spark plug ..ok etc
Can be a race car engine who had an hard life in japan
but a prefer a well beated engine over a badly maintained beated engine..

The intake was a AEM fujita style ..(dust sweeper)close to the ground
I've put back the OE airbox..with heat shield foil added to it (spoon style)

Yes of what I've saw
it's all around the air pump (my p1412)
I'm about to rest the car in my garage for all the winter here coming soon
So I will verify all my air pump system.. high voltage
because sometimes I can confirm That I hear it starting and stop
and after clear the code with my scan it comes back just by putting the
key on ignition .. before starting the engine the CELL is pumping up
MAp, spark plugs, IAC, new coils.. sounds good .. but I will check the vtec screen
I've never thinked about it ..cool thanks Merlin
and I will look forward for the air pump delete kit ..

and yes I still got the rev limiter at around 6k when cold even with jdm ECU (crisskro)

Thanks for your replies,
I'm still open for opinions of others
I will let the people know about my CEL after my future test

Cheers

But for my lack of power , sometimes I can feel it before reaching the vtec..
and at the track ..that was incredibly bad after some passes..
OE intake, airbox + heat shield foil..
good 100% syntec motul oil
94 octane gas..
can be pre ignition ? already too hot after 2-3 run ?
I was doing, time attack , ..point A to point B around 30 sec..every pass
it was not after 30minutes on track and I quickly feeled the difference..

a lot of people changes the fuel strainer ?
