J's Racing intake in AP2

J's Racing intake in AP2
So question for you all. I've searched for this and I never got a clear answer. So any help would be greatly appreciated!
I recently picked up a used J's racing tsuchinoko intake. I have an 04 AP2. Upon removing my existing cooling plate to kind of mock up how the intake snorkel would fit, I noticed a couple issues. There are some, what appear to be, AC lines and a decent sized black support bar that is bolted on both ends across the back of the bumper. These two seem like they are in the way of the snorkel of the J's intake.
So those of you who have had this issue in the AP2, what did you do to get the snorkel to fit? Did you remove the black support bar? If so, does this bar play an important role?
I've included a picture below to hopefully clarify what I'm talking about.
Again, any insight would be greatly appreciated!
