Here's the Mobil 1 M-105 oversize filter loosening thread:

I fixed vjarnot's car from a loose M-105. it is not the correct filter, and has a good track record of blowing off. Vjarnot was lucky, his car didn't burn completely to the ground, a tow bill some fixed wiring, and a lot of cleaning were necessary.

I've always put the filter on as tight as I can reasonably get it by hand. This has worked for me on every car I've ever changed oil in. Any tighter and I don't know if I could get the thing off again.

From the full size version of that pic, it looks like the M1-105 filter. I think that is the oversized filter that was briefly popular here. I never liked that idea and stuck with what Mobil would say is the correct size filter for our car, the M1-104, and have had no problems with it loosening at all.
That said, I'll probably switch to the new Honda S2000-specific filter after I use up my last Mobil filter. They are cheap, compared to the Mobil, and readily available. The M1-104 is hard to find around here a lot of times.
