Issue with differential
Hi Guys,
i notice that when i shift the car from first thru 4th gear the rear diff make a low thump. The other day i was in my parking spot and i put the car in reverse, i felt a small thump coming from the rear diff.and the car lurhces ever so slightly. Its as if the drive shaft is still spinning a bit even though i have the clutch full depressed. What should i look at to fix this issue??
Thanks!!!!

This doesn't sound like it has anything to do with the diff. The diff is just reacting to what you are doing to it, which is exactly as you suspected, the input shaft is still spinning.
Either your clutch is out of adjustment so it isn't actually fully letting go of the flywheel, or else you are simply not allowing the input shaft to adjust to the appropriate speed. People who let the clutch out in neutral at stoplights have the same problem when they suddenly clutch in and try to shift to first. My thought is it is the clutch though, if you're having this problem in almost every gear at every speed and you are properly revmatching your shifts.

Great info and thanks a lot. I had suspected the clutch because i had also noticed something else. When the car is at idle the tranny or clutch makes a very sublte noise. If i depress the clutch i hear the noise go away, but it almost winds down like the clutch is responding to me depressing the clutch a bit late. The gears tend to bite a bit when i ushift, sepecially going from second to third. The clutch also rides high BUT i was told all Hondas are like that and the clutch doesnt slip at all.
Maybe its time for a new clutch...
