Swapping injectors sounds like an easy and good idea.
Oil pressure would also be interesting to know.

So, you went from 5W-30 to 5W-40? And the engine is still noisy, after the oil change and all the replaced parts?

Can you post a video of the engine idling?

Thanks!

How does the engine sound when you rev it a little and let it settle back to idle?

Had the same sound in my 2001 engine. Happened after driving 20 mins at full speed. First i thought it sounds like rod bearings. So changed them for new ones and nothing changed.

I think it was piston slap, maybe caused through bad lubrication. Happened all after an engine flush a week or 2 before the speedy run.

Ended with changing the engine for a 2005 example.

Sometimes, revving the engine will demo the sound. LIke this video. Go to 1:30.

The sound drowns out around 1000rpm and cannot be heard. It only comes when its in idle around 700rpms. And its intermittent too!

I can only think about detonation by a injector, or a piston wrist pin.

Noise more common when engine is cold or hot?

Quick Reply: Intermittent tapping at idle that follows half of the engine rpm.
