i am experiencing some intermittent power loss some point after VTEC. The VTEC cam is engaging, but sometimes i can feel a tremendous hesitation (the engine is not governing). At first i thought that the clutch was slipping or the diff was messed up, but the revs do not jump up when i experience this. It happens in pretty much any gear, but it is most noticeable in 1-3rd gears. Has anyone else experienced this situation? Any suggestions?

thanks

Matt

EDIT: its much more prevalent at WOT.

Do a search on MAP sensor. All the symptoms are consistent with that problem.

My car was doing that. I took it to the dealership, they said it was an air intake temp sensor. they replaced it and everything is fine now.

Thanks for your responses, there is no CEL. I am planning on taking the car to the dealership as soon as possible.

Check the oil pressure switch. Mine was leaking and it was causing the car to run very sluggish between 6000-9000RPM as well. I think it was not sending the correct oil pressure to the VTEC solnoid. I replaced it and the power is back. I thought it was the clutch slipping as well, since there was a hesitation when I drop gears but the RPM would climb very slowly.

S2K,

Where is the oil pressure switch located. Did you have a CEL light come on? I have experienced this sluggishness and I have been to the dealer a couple of times and they say that everything is running fine They say no codes and vtec works fine. My problem seems to be intermittant though.

Thanks,
John

Either the MAP sensor or bad fuel. I've had the same thing happen to me and it turns out it was just a problem with fuel from a local station.
