It's the clutch. Something is wrong with the engaging and disengaging of the friction disc most likely causing this.
I suggest they look at it. If it's a defective pressure plate they may change it for just cost of parts.

Before they replaced the sychro, did
they tell you ahead that this parts will be replaced or just found out?
Wonder if they really replace it.
Second, you should have changed the clutch unit instead of using the old one just to narrow the problem.
I'm also questioning, if the transmission oil is the right one.
I had the same problem. My Lotus V8 is hard to engage. The original owner put a wrong gear oil. I replaced it with MT 90 - now like a butter smooth shifting & selecting.

almost have the money saved for clutch...but still need to save for labor..any have anymore opinions before i fully commit to this? alot of money
