[QUOTE=Neutered Sputniks,Nov 8 2007, 02:21 AM] So the S2000 is the only vehicle anyone here drives?

It makes total sense being the K&N flows more. I dont expect it to capture as much dirt as non-performance filters.

I have a GMC to tow my S2000. I just use stock for it. I'm not looking to get from stop light-to-stop light the fastest- no reason to switch. In the S, that's a different story. The stock cams are so limiting on my 2.5L that I'll try to get that little bit.

Call me crazy, but modding a truck for more power via an air filter is pretty lame. I used a Hypertech Power Programmer on my old GMC. Wanna buy it?

i think some of the issues with k&N air filters not making power is their location in the engine bay. Sometimes you can increase the CFM's but because your intake is in the engine compartment, its sucking in 30-50 degree hotter air.

I will continue to use my K&N until my oil analysis charts tell me otherwise

Regardless, besides a louder intake, there is really very little to no power gains to be had by switching away from stock (as I said, some vehicles actually LOST power when running a K&N filter).
Wasn't trying to argue with you, merely pointing it out. I was under the impression that you thought the S2000 has a MAF. Sure other cars have them, S2000's don't. Why warn people they may foul their MAF when they don't have them? This is an S2000 forum after all. GMC trucks and their performance are not a regular topic of discussion here.
If you were not originally refering to an S2000, and had pointed it out, I would have said nothing. What you posted would make someone with an S2000 who didn't know any better assume they had a MAF to foul.

We were discussing K&N filters, I threw out what my mechanic buddies have passed on to me.

Personally, I see no compelling reason to switch away from the stock intake. Maybe if I do some major engine work or go FI...

Living where you live, I would be more concerned with filtering than increased air flow.

LOL. You're telling me. I can't even drive the 1/2 mi home from the car wash without the car being covered in dust.

Hopefully in a few months I'll have to worry more about road salt and less about dust...
