Default Intake Manifold swap questions

I was wondering how much time it would take to swap out the stock manifold. Is this a DIY job or should I have a mechanic do it? I figure I will instal a Hondata gasket when I do it.

This is why I ask...

It's a bitch. Have a dependable shop do it. There are some threads on here about installing a Hondata gasket and they go into details. Nice looking manifold. This is the time to add the proflow and have it matched to the manifold.

Mmmm, shiny.

Do a search on the Hondata gasket for install tips (look for Marcucci's write-up). It's non-trivial, but if you take your time you can get through it. Best to have a partner help.

It took me the better part of a day with help. There are some bolts that you need to be a contortionist to get at. Plus I severly cut the shit out of my hand. It can be done if you are handy but it is about the biggest PITA job on this car.

Also note that it involves removing the fuel rail, and messing with those little o-rings, etc. If you don't get it right and get a fuel leak, your car will be undriveable if you detect it, and possibly dangerous if you don't. Unless you have above average shadetree skills, pay someone.

make sure you have some special tools in order to get to those bolts on the underside of the manifold. I had to utilize various flex extensions and fabricate some other tools to handle this job. Its a tough one...

I've done the Hondata on 3 different cars now - and it's not a picnic, but is doable.

The essential tools are a combo 12mm socket/swivel in 1/4" drive, and (2) 6" extensions in 1/4" drive. It is also essential to have at least 2 or 3 swedish masseuse's working in rotation on your aching lower back...

[edit] here's the 12mm socket/swivel:

Thanks

Mainly I was after the time it would take to do. Looks like it will take more time that I have. I will set up this to be done by a mechanic.
