I applied my basic two step approach to this factroy airbox that has served me well with previous rides.
First off, I replaced the restrictive filter element with the Comptech
foam filter. I was not impressed with the comptech, and then tried the
Green filter, which seemed to flow much better, and provide better response.
I then added a cold air extension on the right side of the airbox, using
5 inch automotive flexible duct, and feeding into the RH fender well.
This really gave me what I was looking for and although slightly louder
at WOT, the power difference is very noticeable.
I will be happy to E-mail pics to anyone who is interested, but this mod
requires cutting the factory box, and although the resulting mod is clean
looking and functional, I can take no responsibility for what you do to your car. Oh yeah, total cost is less that $75.00 for filter and duct.

I left that alone on my car, so as to keep a relative stock appearance,
but I think it's just a resonance chamber, and removing it would not
improve performance IMHO...

is there any performance to be gained by say cutting off that back sound chamber or whatever it is called or would that just be destroying the box ?
