Default Intake hoses

I was just working on my AEM and I was wondering where does the larger hose that comes off of the right hand side (driver's side) of the intake tube go? And also what does it do?

I think it goes to the air pump that is under the driver side headlight. It is an emissions thing.

Hi

Also been unsure about this hose.

Does removing it & blocking it off aid power in any way?

What if I installed an aftermarker CAI? Do you just remove the hose? or the whole air pump?

Hum. Yes u can remove it. There is a kit call "air pump delete kit". Search. It doesn't weigh much. People who delete it usually have it malfunction and remove it instead of replacing it. there is no performance gain on removing it. Laying off the fast food and will give the same benifits.

The air pump is for start up emissions only. Once you start driving, even if the motor is still cold, the pump will shut off.

If you remove it, you'll be stuck with a CEL. The CEL won't cause anything to happen but it will be on 100% of the time, so if something else goes wrong you won't know.

Yeah, the pump delete kit was able to fool Euro ECU's but never worked in the US. If you want it gone THAT bad buy a standalone ECU
