Damn! I knew I should have listened to my wife and just bought the Honda Insight....but damn if I tried to upgrade the batteries in the Insight to give me more oomph and then be told that I didn't drive the car as it was meant to be driven.

Duty cycle? The check valve in the bolts opens at 28 psi, while the oil pressure spec is 36 psi mimimum at idle rising to 85 psi minimum at 3000 rpm with oil at 176 degrees F. It's true the oil could get hotter, but if so the engine and the oil pump will be spinning faster so should maintain 85 psi. So the jets spray all the time. The duty cycle is 100%.

I figured the check valves were to prevent oil draining out of the system when the engine is off.

If cooler oil translates to higher oil pressure for a given rpm (it should), I would think this would increase the duty cycle of the jets and keep them spraying when otherwise they may not be.

When you do this oil bolt changeover, it's just he bolt that's changed, right? Or is there other stuff you change too - like the jet nozzles or springs?

This is ALWAYS a good thing!
Thanks for the info. "marcucci" has been kind enough to send away for a set from Europe for me (about 35 bucks). I should have them in time for me to take off my oil pan during the S/C install.
There's nothing magical about the oil pan sealing goop, is there. The "book" says to use some kind of Honda sealer, but I've got tubes of ATV gasket making goop. Will that do?

They are in the Helm manual in the engine lubrication section.
