Increased oil consumption after intake install?
I installed an AEM v2 intake last September on my MY'02. It seems that I've been burning oil faster since then.
I added oil during my initial break-in period when I bought the car, but after about 3,000 miles, I never had to add oil between changes, even with track events. I change my oil every 3,000-4,000 miles and use Mobil 1 10W30. The car has about 38,000 miles on it - daily driver - about 6 track events a year.
I normally underfill the car by about 1/2 a quart to help with the "hard-right-turn-burning-oil" problem at the track, but since I installed the intake, it seems like I'm burning oil on a regular basis. It's not significant from what I've read after searching this topic (about 1 qt. every 1500 to 2000 miles) - but definitely a higher rate than before the intake.
Has anyone else had this problem?

hey wicked..
i installed a few bolt ons as far as intake... headers.. and exhaust seperately while watching oil consumption...
i haven't noticed any noticeable change...
i also have never heard of intakes causing oil to burn up quicker either... i know everytime i install a new part i like to pound on the motor to test it out which causes me to burn oil a little more, but once i start to drive regular again its normal..

I agree with bean, youre probably just pushing a bit harder because of the sound, and hitting VTEC a bit more, causing a little greater oil consumption. Do you have any other mods to your car?

You guys are probably right that I'm just driving harder now with the intake. It also could be that since I have lower oil levels to start with, I notice the loss of a quart more than I would have if it was topped off at each oil change.
