Inconsistent Idle

Inconsistent Idle
Hey guys.
I have been having some issues with my idle for like a year now and I can't figure it out. Some times it is smooth and solid, other times it is rough and sounds like it wants to die on me and then there are times when the idle will fall vary low, like 200rpms. When it idles vary low it normally only does it once and when I give is some gas and let off it is back to normal but other times it falls again.
Any ideas what would be causing this?
Also what is the stock idle speed for an 2000 AP1?

Is it when you're on the gas and off, like reversing? If so, this might help.

Link is pretty good.
You should idle just under 1k rpm.. 900ish.
1) Don't give it gas when it wants to stall. The ECU will try to 'learn' how to idle and correct it. Giving gas fools it. Of course, when it gets really bad, it will stall every time so you will need to gas up.
2) Map wack is a bandaid for most people I think. The real problem with the map sensor is typically due to the very small channel that runs between the throttle body and the intake manifold that supplies air to the map. This channel gets clogged with deposits and prevents adequate air from reaching the map sensor. You can unbolt the TB and clean the channel out pretty easily.
3) IAC (idle air control) gets dirty, especially on AP1s that burn a lot of oil. Take it off, clean it with some carb cleaner and some cotton swabs.
I bet that cleaning the map channel and the IAC will fix your issue.

Mine got really bad last summer over the course of a week.. stalled once while driving.. then the car corrected. Then twice the next day. Then a couple days later, it would stall every time I let off the gas. Cleaning the IAC and map channel fixed it 1000%.

Excelent, thank you very much I would not have know to clean those.
I will do what yall have advised and post the results.
To answer your question. No its when I am off the gas light at a red light that issue arises.
