When I was at the Long Beach Grand Prix, Motul had a booth there. I had a long discussion with them about their oils. Part of the discussion centered around Motul absolutely terrible english version of their website. The french execs won't let the American guys redesign it so it's decent and gives good info.

Where am I going with this you may ask? Well, the American pres of Motul put out some brochures and pamphlets of his own to try to get around this. One of the discussions in them were the points you brought up in your first post.

In there 6100 series oil, if I'm not mistaken it is actually NOT AFI certified because they have taken the position to NOT reduce the quantities of certain additives.

The 6100 series is not promoted heavily in the US because it isn't certified, but it's their best oil. I believe you can also use this oil as opposed to the additive you mentioned.

Well that's where I was going when I started the thread. When manufacturer's lowered the levels of zinc, phosphorus and perhaps sulpher (can't remember exactly) in their oils to meet new emmissions standards and reduce harm to cat. converters many people thought oil performance had to decrease - me included. The Redline additive I was trying out simply raised those items about 300-400 ppms in a 5 quart sump in the quantities I was using. Redline has not received certification for their oils because they use high quantities of additives in their oils that are far higher than the low SAPs oils. So Redline is probably similar to the Motul oil you refer to. Most oils that are developed for the racing community are like that though, even Mobil1 had a racing version that had high levels of additives, and I think Valvoline has one too.

Way to much Zinc and Phos to run by itself for the street and take a look at the moly.

I just put 3 qt's. of the M1 R 0/50 and 3qt's. of M1 AFE 0w-20 in my S because of this guys post

I have been using(for the last 45k miles) 4 qt's of M1 5/30 and 2 qt's of M1 Racing 4T 10W-40 oil for more anti-wear additive.
Now I'll see how this new mix goes, just put it in last weekend so it will be a while before I get a UOA on it.
