hey guys somewhat of a noob question but i just gotta ask...i have a MY01 and need to change out my ignition coils, and was wondering if there is a difference in ap1 and ap2.....thanks guys

in terms of size and fitment they are the exact same. They are a different part number and they look slightly different. I just put in a set of ap2 coilpacks in my ap1 and they work well. I don't really know if the ap2 coilpacks are any more powerful, the windings seemed to have the same resistance ratings from what I could measure so I don't think there is much difference in terms of performance.

Honda Service Manual Edition 1 for 2000 to 2006 S2000, Page 4-25 step 3. They note that the 20006 coil is different then 2000 to 2005 and could be damaged if installed in the incorrect year. The 2006 (and assume to 2009) have two tabs when viewing from the top, one at 6 o'clock the other about 1 o'clock, and the supplier part number is stamped on the side.

that is cool to know about the newer years, the ones I put in my ap1 are from a 2005, I believe they have 4 tabs but they look different slightly. They are made by Denso with part number stamped on the coil.
