Check the K&N website or the box on their Filter Charger kits. I believe that's where I saw that statement. You need to clarify what you mean by "works better", though. A slightly dirty filter doesn't improve airflow, but it does trap more particles.

BINGO! that's what I meant to say. My ambiguous explanation was a result of my inebriated state of mind at that time of posting. cheers.

now about that sock over the filter...

I've read some about this as well..... there seems to be a sweet spot between when too many particles get versus the point when not enough air is getting through. You should get better air flow with a fresh clean filter, but at the cost of increased engine wear due to crap in the intake.....

I got the K&N filter recharger kit, but I am not sure whether to use it or not yet. According to their instructions, you should get something like 50K miles with the filter before using it....

I think that might be dependant on the position of the filter. My buddy had an old pickup with a 350 Chevy engine in it, and the filter sat on top of the engine, where it wasn't exposed to much debris. He probably could've gone 50,000 miles without 'recharging' his filter (although he usually cleaned it about every 15K). However, the CAIs on the S2000 will probably pick up a lot more crap, due to their location. For my CAI on my old Prelude, I tried to clean it once every 8-10K miles.
I'd say "Use common sense". If the filter looks *really* dirty, it's probably time to clean it.

I know of some people cleaning around 20k to 30k....... I don't when I'll clean... I think I'll follow the "really dirty" advice
