The Vortech is a sweet setup. The install is more involved but still not hard. I did my own install and it went smoothly so the Vortech install is not impossible to complete. With the Vortech you get more power, less vibration, more power, less cost, more power (oh, I said that.) With either one you can't go wrong. Get the polished one whichever way you go.

I don't have either but thought I would throw this in for giggles........

Before I bought my S, I researched a few cars and spent a while searching the Miata board where SC'ing Miata's seems popular. There is a company called BR Performance which was a popular supplier of SC kits including a Jackson Racing kit (M45 blower) with an upgraded pulley and their own more powerful kit based on a larger (M62?) blower for the Miata with plug and pluy "powercard" injector controllers. Both kits were much cheaper than kits availible for the S. They ranged generally $3000 for the Jackson to $4000 for their own kit.

I sent an email to them asking if they ever had plans to make an adapted version of one of these kits for the S2000, noting that a kit that did not reach the hp level of the Comptech or Vortech kit might interest many S owners if it were more affordable and offered more midrange pep rather than peak power.

I was sent a response that they had no plans in the immediate future, but that the company did have some interest at providing S2000 products in the future. PLEASE do not read this as saying they confirmed they would develop products! I read the response as saying they were intrigued by the car and intended to look at the feasibility of producing something in the future.

I just bought my car with 14k on it and plan to enjoy it stock for a while. But a year or two from now I may tinker with it and I wish there were a more affordable complete and reliable kit, that would stress the drivetrain less and offer some midrange street punch over top end. BR Performance seemed like a respected supplier among Miata folks and it would be great if they decided to add extra choice for S2000 owners.

Oh yeah, has anyone with these kits chosen to run water injection by Aquamist or others for intake cooling rather than a more expensive intercooler? What was the level of success?
