Default Idle questions...

Couple questions about my 'new' baby. My 2000 S2000.

When i fire it up first hing in the morning, it idles at 2000 RPM, period. I can rev it up a bit and it'll settle back at 2k until the engine warms up. Normal?

And today my check engine light came on, so my first reaction is, naturally, check air filter [Which is still pretty clean, despite a large dragonfly having found it's death in my airbox] and oil... but Honda decided to be as crafty as they could with these cars, first the Fuel door, now the dipstick. Where's that sneaky devil?

If the Oil and such is fine, I'll take it in and have the diagnotic done tomorrow, but I worry about my little car.

How many cars have you owned? It's like that with most cars that are not even hondas. They rev high in the morning as a warm up procedure. That has NOTHING to do with and engine check light.

The two questions are unrelated.

Light came on because the Evap canister's got a leak.

I thought these forums were to help people not to bash them. Do most cars idle high on cold start? Yes. At 2k? no, most do not.
