I think the clutch is glazed
To make a long story short, my clutch is $%#&ed up, one way or another. I got the burnt smell and the slippage, and not long after I started noticing that, the car was completely immobile. It started off slipping in high RPM's, then it gradually got worse as I was going down the highway until it went completely out. With the clutch out, it should act as if it's engaged even when the pedal's not depressed (IE I can run through the gears with the engine running without pushing the clutch in and nothing will happen) right? Also, I'm not sure what the odds are that my clutch is completely fried or just needs to be de-glazed. If anyone has any input on this, I'd appreciate it. Now is about the worst possible time for me to have to dump another $1500 into the damn car, so if the clutch is shot, that car is gonna become somebody else's money pit in a big hurry.

Yeh. If it was glazed it would still grab - no matter how crappily. Most likely its past the point where you can use it.
And no, if the clutch is fried that doesnt mean you can row through the gears as though you were stepping on the pedal - it still has a little bit of metal-metal friction. If youre driving it like that/trying it out, most likely you will need a new flywheel as well as a clutch. (Rivets holding friction material in probably dug into the flywheel by now)
