4. Have the Idle Air Control mechanism checked. Listen to it. If it's clicking, this might be what's causing your situation (could be mistaken for valves). A few IAC solenoids have been known to act up.
and i am running 91 octane

The Idle Air Control system takes care of the idle during cold starts and other situations like compensating for A/C activity and rpm decrease in hot temps, etc.
We don't have a MAS (mass airflow sensor). We have a MAP (manifold absolute pressure). Both function sort of the same in that it detects the amount of air that goes into the intake and thus allows the ECU to calculate the amount of fuel needed.

i went to see if i heard the ticking coming from the IAC, i got nothing. i started messing with the harness for the map sensor, moving it front and back and it was making a strong change in how my car held idle. so i guess all thats left would be for me to ask if i need another map sensor clip & harness or just the map sensor it self? and should i still have the IAC checked out?

ps. It may also be that the pins inside the wiring harness have gotten a bit loose or sloppy. You might want to use a bit of di-electric grease in there when you put the new stuff on.
