thanks guys for everyone's input, I really appreciate the feedback from everyone! I will definitely have it checked when I get my valve adjustment done, I guess until then, I will just have to hope it is ok and keep an eye and ear open for noises or warning lights, thanks.

I think you fail to understand. There will be no warning noises or lights. If the retainers are damaged, the first warning you have will be a valve dropping into your piston. I would do that inspection sooner rather than later, even though I think you are probably fine based on your description of the incident.

no, I definitely understand what your saying, I realize its serious and some people have no symptoms, I just cant get my car in to the shop for probably another week and its my only daily driver. I guess all I can do is cross my fingers for the next week..

A slightly cracked retainer can go 15k miles or more.

You've got time, but pull the cover and look. It takes a trained eye to find broken retainers, as the cracks are not visible.

Even a severely cracked retainer....one that is so bad it is rubbing on the roller rocker and etching away at the camshaft....will show no symptoms at all. No noise, no CEL, nothing.

Until it drops a valve and sends it smashing through the cylinder head. THEN you'll know

As other posters said, you probably will not notice any sensation from the stock rev limiter during a mechanical over rev.

Consider Modifry's Redline Shift Beeper. Then you'll get clear notice if you ever do a mechanical over rev.

thanks guys, and thanks Billman for the info! I will get it looked at this weekend. I have a friend that owns an s2000 and is a tech at the local honda dealer, he said he can check it out for me and adjust my valves.
