How often should you change your oil if you only drive the car 500 miles a year? Thanks.

I work for Jiffy Lube and we say every 3000 miles regardless of time, but I'd change it once a year or so. Especially since its so damn easy on these things.

If you put it away for the winter, once a year before you put it away.

Doesn't the owners manual say 5,000 or once a year which ever comes first? Maybe the fuel in the tank needs more consideration than the motor oil? Probably a dose of Sta-bil should be used. Weather or not this is necessary, it would make me more comfortable. I also agree that the car should be driven more.

Just 500 miles per year? Do you not like driving the car??

Maybe you meant 5000?

500 miles a yr? That's less than 10 miles per week!

Once a yr should be fine...but how about the other fluids( brake, diff, trans, clutch)?
