How about some actual back-to-back test data? (See my earlier comments)

I haven't heard the price. What's the $ factor?

just drill a 4" diameter hole in the side of the airbox facing the fender. same difference, without the expense... or added weight.

DIESEL indicated to me he's thinking 150 bones at this point...

I have to say, I do think the hole saw to the end of the airbox and a couple PVC pieces painted semi-matte grey for $5 total cost is sounding pretty good to me too . I can use the $145 in savings to help replenish the $1500 outlay on the Mugen exhaust that's on a slow boat from overseas to me now.

Sounds high from what I see. But I don't know anything except that this is a custom, low-volume run of a specialized part. He's also seeking patent protection which costs $$$ as well.

So while the price might be steep, that may just be what his costs are (plus a bit extra for profit). As I said, this is custom, low-volume stuff.

When I first saw the project, I saw the plastic pieces and thought to myself:

"Self, this looks like a cheap mod ($75). Interesting."

Just goes to show what I know about fabrication of plastic parts.

Yep, that's what I was thinking as well. I guess when talk of patents started it should have become obvious. How could I have been so naive . At this price it's more expensive than the spoon snorkel knockoffs...

The patent was $1700.00 to file and materials and labors are not cheap either. While your at it check and see what it costs to develop a mold for something like this!
