I just picked up my S last weekend. I decided to head down to the hobby shop to change my oil for the first time. I wanted to also take a look at everything underneath and when I had her on the lift I found this!!! It was completely missing 4 of the bolts and the two that were there, as you can see didn't even have nuts Well, I managed to find two bolts that would fit and two nuts at the hobby shop so I could atleast be able to drive down to the store to find proper ones. I'm just glad I decided to give the backside a once over Obviously that red spacer doesn't look stock either. Any ideas?

Spacer is for lowered cars I believe, and the missing bolts are due to laziness...

That's what I thought, but wasn't 100% sure. Even though when I bought the car, it was stock, but I think the owner before the one I recently purchased it from might of had some stuff done to it. I also discovered that they gutted the stock airbox and put a KN cone filter on it as well.

damn, lucky save. You were probably a few miles from catastrophe. I would check your lugnuts as well. Loctite and torque those suckers down.

I can't believe how people owning a car like this can do things half-ass (previous owner), good thing you caught it in time, you don't need the spacers if the car has been returned to stock suspension/height.

Those are driveshaft spacers and you'll need longer than stock bolts. The Megan Racing kit comes with lock washers and Locktite Blue pre-installed on the nuts. Torque those nuts to 61 lb-ft. The nuts and bolts are special high-strength units. I would recommend you try to buy them from Megan Racing, T1R or one of the other companies that sell the spacer kits.

I'd make sure the whole car is inspected for other BS like this.

I'd also inspect the tranny and diff fill bolts for continuous paint and see if those fluids have ever been changed.

Just get grade 8 shoulder bolts that match from the hardware store or fastenal. Torque to spec. Whoever did it before either didn't tighten them enough, and they shook off, or ruined them and never replaced them.

That's a good point--replace all the bolts still left on the drive shafts and definitely use a bunch of Locktite Blue.
