no disrespect but banging it will almost never work, you are working aganist the thread, it doesn't matter you are slamming it again a big stick.
it's like trying to pull a screw with the back of the hammer, it's not coming off because you are working aganist the thead(which adds up each turn of the screw or knob), not to mention you can nick that sucker in the process.
the blue threadlocker is not at hard to remove, but the problem is how to do so without getting the surface damage. what happen most of time is you have no traction on the knob itself.
try the following in order..
1)clean the knob with glass cleaner, wear a latex glove and try to twist it off(clean/oilless surface and grip of the rubber glove)
2)put masking/painters tape on the knob(to increase the traction/fraction on the knob and your plam)
3)all else failed: use a torch, obvious, not an option if you have a leather or coated knob. The heat will weaken the bond of the threadlock glue, plus metal expanse when heated.

Additionally if you lift up the console from the back you can take vise grips (use a towel to protect the shifter) and hold it while you use the strap wrench from the top

Wow this is a lot more trouble than i thought...I went to the dealership yesterday to see if they could get it off and they wanted a $100 deposit and $100 estimate because they might break the shift lever and they dont want to pay for it...Im going to go buy a strap wrench today to see if that works, but when I turn the wrench it goes counter clockwise correct? Thanks for all the help fellas

Get a strap wrench that is at least an inch wide. for the top. use the vise grips with a towel around the shifter under the console. It will take some work, but it will come off.
I learned the hardway too, next time don't use as much loctite. one bead form the top to the bottom of the threads is sufficient
