Just the other day I was driving home from work and all of a sudden it starts to pour down rain. The streets were flooded so I could not help but to drive through it all. My car started to smoke and it ended up stalling so I had no choice but to pull in somewhere. Im guessing I hydrolocked it. I took off my CAI and looked inside my throttle body and sure enough it was full of water. I took out my plugs and coils as well as the fuel pump fuse and tried cranking my car to let out the water but all i heard was the starter click. The car would nit crank. All the lights were working so it couldn't have been the battery could it? And all my fuses are good. Why is my car just clicking when it should be cranking? Has my starter shorted out? I really need help in figuring this out asap. Im in fear of the water in my engine will begin to rust everything.

did the water get high enough to reach the starter ?. It sounds like you have a bad battery or starter. Hopefully your alternator is still safe, but it wouldn't be related to the starting issue. It sounds like you did the right thing and you avoided trying the re-start the engine when it was hydro-locked so it could be salvageable. When you get it sorted out dump the oil, and fresh oil can help with any rust that may occur.

See if you can turn the engine manually. If it turns you must crank it and get all the water out ASAP or else it will start to rust in. If the engine doesn't turn then you broke a connecting rod, time for a rebuild.... just coz of a 1-3hp cold air intake you ruined the whole engine tsk tsk...

Well it's probably been a HP loss and now motor damage

If it's clicking and everything is lighting up bright you probably locked up the motor. As s2000maniac said, there's a high probability that you snapped a rod and got it wedged in there nice and tight.

I would do as others have stated and try and put a 19mm socket on the crank and see if you can rotate the engine with a ratchet. If not, it's toast.

If the plugs are out you should be able to turn the engine over by putting it in first gear and push the car a few feet. If you can move the car when its in gear but the starter won't turn it over you need to check the starter out.

Hydrolock is very hard on engines. Ask me how I know.
