Default Humming noise coming from the engine bay

I am hearing an abnormally loud humming noise coming from near the alternator. After the humming sometimes there is a click. I have had 2 s2000s, with over 180,000 miles combined so I know its not normal. It almost sounds like a loud fuel pump, almost like the ac unit/radiator fan turning on but a lot louder and more of a humming sound. Could it be a bad alternator?

Thanks in advance.

is it possibly the tone that some hear from the intake (comes from past the throttle body i believe, and out the intake). mine definitly does this, and is quite noticable.

i know you said you've had S's for a while and u know its not normal, but from what ive ready its only pressent on some S2000s, not all of them.
