Default Hub bearing? HELP

Hey so I need some opinions on what u think my sound is..
It started a few days ago but got worse everday i drove it..

From standing still when u start going forward it goes clunk clunk clunk...
and the faster u go the faster it goes..
When it first started the noise it would disapear after like 25mph...
but as days went on it got worse...
One day i floored it in first and it got so bad that it overcome my aftermarket exhaust..
When driving on the freeway all I hear is a very very loud hmmmmmmm sound and when u slow down to street driving it is a loud clunk clunk clunk..

So I thought wheel bearing but not sure..
I emptyed the diff fluid and it was real dirty and had a few metal shards, not very big but a few on the magnent.
I put the car on jack stands and i know its coming from the rear but I cant figure out if its the diff or bearing..

Any ideas on how to find out..
or just any ideas on what it is..

heres another update... i took off the rims and put the car in first and let it spin freeley in the air.. I can grab the right side axle and i can slowly stop it completely with my hand... it wants to go, its making a clunk clunk clunk and everytime it makes the sound it kinda trys to movie the axle forward.. the other axle takes alot of strength to stop it, while the right side is pretty easy..
If i put it in reverse and let it go freely i cant stop any of the axles..

So please someone give an idea of what it is..

i dont know but you can find out by openning de diff to look inside. ita a like 8 bolts and to put it back you just need a gasket

Hmm...
No you can't
The S2k doesn't have your average rigid axle & central diff.
You can't open the diff when its under the car.
(okay.. maybe you can: remove axle nuts, loosen ABS wires, pop lower rear ball joints to remove the axles, remove axles & diff output shafts, remove prop shaft, remove front diff mounts and then you might be able to do it but I guess not as there is not a whole lot of room to move the diff forwards .. anyway.. its a little more than 8 bolts... )

Stealth_SUX_ : sounds like the Torsen LSD unit.
To get a slightly better idea: you can see the ring gear through the drain hole so you could inspect it : look for chipped teeth.
If the ring gear looks ok = Torsen LSD.

I would be suprised if the LSD was bad, since I haven't heard of basically any failures of it.

A wheel bearing is more likely to be the cause of the noise you are hearing, especially for a car as old as yours. How many miles? Do some figure 8 turns with neutral throttle. Try to keep your speed constant. Does it make more noise going in one direction versus the other?

If a rear wheel bearing is that bad (as in: having enough resistance to make it easy to almost stop an axle turning one way) you should be able to feel play rocking the wheel.
And it should be pretty easy to locate the source of the noise.
I guess.
Is there a temp difference in hubs after driving?
(take the rotor temp into account)

Lets hope its the bearing.

The rocking thing only works if the bearings have failed causing play. If everything is still intact, but binding badly, you won't necessarily find much play in the wheel.
