Default How to Use Fogging oil

Is taking out the spark plugs the only way to spray in fogging oil into the engine for winter storage? I'd prefer not to do this as i don't have a spark plug socket or a torque wrench at this time....any other way to spray it in there? i know its probably not mandatory, but it came with the fuel stabilizer i bought and i plan on parking the S on the weekend.

THanks everyone!

Removing the spark plugs really isn't hard at all. If you have no tools at all they can be bought for less than $30. A tq wrench can be rented too! Good luck!

...the same can be asked about non-contributory comments.

To the OP:
remove the intake tube end to expose the throttle body, open the throttle plate and spray fogging oil into the intake as you take a 19mm wrench and roll the motor over by hand via the crank pully bolt (this opens the intake valves sequentially for each cylinder and allows the oil to make its way into the cylinders). Roll the motor over several times repeating the process. Try not to spray so much into the intake at one time as to create a pool of oil in the intake manifold - the idea is to leave a very light coating in the cylinders . Be careful not to get anything into the intake manifold and don't use one of those thin straws that may come with the product as it may end up in the intake.
Hope that helps.

aznives3,

It sounds as if you made your mind up to go the route of 'complete' shut down for the winter.

However, I wanted to offer my personal experience with winter storage....My car is a MY00 with 19k miles. It is a garage queen that doesn't even see rain. In the prior 8 winters of ownership, I have not really done anything other than topping the gas, changing the oil and putting extra air in the tires. The car will sit for 2 months at a time. When the roads are dry and salt free, I'll start the car, let it idle for a few minutes, do a couple of miles and shut it back down.

I have not experienced any issues with this approach, but I don't know if it is an option for you.

Regards,

i know its probablyl something thats overkill but the car will probably have to sit until about march/april. The only reason i ask about using it is because it came in a package with the fuel stabilizer that i bought, so i figured i may as well use it now that i have it, otherwise i wouldn't have bought it anyways.

slipstream, im thinking with that method it may be hard to spray the product into the TB and try to minimize how much ends up in the intake manifold...any tips on that? Also, when i pull it out of storage in spring, should i expect the first few seconds to be rough or something as the fogging oil is doing something or should it just be a regular start?
