How to tell if I have Modifry
Hey Guys,
I just purchased a used S, and it has an aftermarket head unit. The plan is to swap out the aftermarket head unit for one that has bluetooth and I would like to keep the in dash controls. What I want to know is if I need to buy Modifry, but there are a couple of signs that lead me to believe that the car already has Modifry already.
The speakers cut in and out
The in dash controls also work intermittently
I'm guessing that the aftermarket unit already has the Modifry DCI unit and wire harness, but was just spliced very poorly.
What do you guys think? I left my car in my hometown and will be picking it up while I am home for the holidays, and I just wanted to get an idea for this stuff so I can get my work done on the car in one swoop with the limited time I have.
Really appreciate your help, thanks guys.

Pull the head unit out of its slot and check behind in the wiring connections, the modifry component will be spliced into the wiring harness and it will have a decal of some sort on it. It's about 2-3 inches long, thin rectangular shaped object if I recall. You probably have one because if you didn't the controls would simply not work at all, if they work sometimes then you probably have one and it just wasn't installed properly. Unless they used some other aftermarket contraption.

Can't you tell if you have the modifry by trying the advanced controls (such as holding down Ch and using the volume rocker switch below simultaneously) to change presets? I dont think any dash units by other brands perform this function. This will obviously prevent you from having to pull the head unit out.
