Smile How to remove tranny companion flange

I am all but ready to install my inlinePRO R200 diff kit, and one thing I need to do is swap out my MY06 tranny companion flange with a MY00-03 flange. Ya sent me the correct flange, and I went to remove the MY06 flange but the tranny assembly turned while I was trying to loosen the hex nut on the companion flange. What am I doing wrong here?

The Helm's manual talks about using a special tool to loosen the hex nut. I don't have this special tool. Can I simply use an impact wrench to loosen it? Also, the Helm's manual states that this hex nut is 27mm; mine is 36mm???

Hmm...the usual master mechanics haven't chimed in yet...

Concerning the crank shaft turning while I am trying to loosen (and later tightening) the hex nut, could I have somebody hold the crank pulley in place with the ratchet while I am loosening the hex nut on the companion flange?

I have used an impact to remove it. The Honda tool holds the flange so you can remove/install the nut. I have used two spare bolts and a pry bar to hold it still while I thightened the nut back to spec.

Thanks for the feedback thus far! Why is the Helm's manual, along with Majestic Honda, stating that this hex nut is 27mm, while mine is actually 36mm???

It is for all MY S2000s. Also, if you click on this link:

http://www.slhondaparts.com/browse.asp?Mod...&ViewParts=true

and then click on part #10, it says that the size of this hex nut is 27MM. Mine is 36mm. I don't know that the disconnect here is.

Well, my impact gun took that hex nut off in the first blast! Now I need to order a new hex nut and the washer and o-rings.
