Default How to prevent tears in soft top

My soft top is in great shape, but I noticed that the usual spots on both sides are beginning to get thin. I really want to prevent them from actually tearing but am not sure what to do. I read that some people use Lizard Skins chain protectors that you can wrap around the frame where it rubs on the top, but then others say that will only make it worse. I felt around the frame with my hand and can't feel any really sharp edges either. I was thinking about maybe putting some Velcro on the inside of the top on the worn areas, that way the bars would rub on the Velcro rather than the top material itself. If anyone has first hand experience or any recommendations I'd appreciate it!

There's really nothing to post that hasn't been posted in prior top tear threads. I'm using Lizard Skins. Some use Tear Aid or similar. Some use vinyl patches.

Why is this in Under The Hood? If your top is under the hood yer doin' it wrong.

It is a technical question to the correct operation or maintenance, of a component in the vehicle.
