Default How much Psi can stock rods hold..?

I have a friend putting together a turbo kit at the moment, and he is adding the A.E.M EMS, custom thicker head gasket, methanol injection, a fuel pump and 550 cc injectors. What is the most psi he can run on the stock bottom end? I know he can pull back timing with the aem and the methanol injection helps prevent detonation, so can he go safely up to 12- 14 psi ? or should he stay at no more than 10 psi.? (the head gasket drops the compression down 9:1) Thanks.

I dont think anyone wants to post here because that would kinda make them responsible mentally for any possibility the motor blows.

After consulting a reputable shop with lots of experience, they said the rods would be good to safely hold 400rwhp. That's just the rods though.

fperra-I think he is using aquamist, thats straight up methanol right?

kanes2k- But arent the s2000 pistons forged?

well as far as the head gasket I just got word from him that he is using a custom stainless steel head gasket from connetic, he actually send them the stock one and they made it of that. What do you guys think?

So if the stock rods should hold up to 400 rwhp then if he dynos around 420-430 rwhp he might be pushing it right? or will he be ok?

The pistons are forged as well and should hold up too. Honda built this motor right from the factory to take a lot of abuse. I just dont trust the sleeves. To replace the sleeves, you gotta replace the pistons along with it though. Plus if you're gonna do that, there's no point in getting the headgasket since you can just order some nice 9:1 compression pistons instead

I'm not gonna say go for 420rwhp or anything, I'll just tell you what I would do if I were in his shoes. I'd push it to the 420 or whatever rwhp and hopefully nothing will go. That's really just to see if it'll make it or not so I can tell other S2k owners if it's safe to do or not. If I wanted to be safe about it, I would stray away from the headgasket route and just use the lower compression pistons with new sleeves and keep the rods stock. By then though, the rods are already off so I'd just try and replace them as well. It's really like a endless chain of new parts that you just want to get.
