Default How much power can the S2000 gearbox handle???

I tried to search but couldn't find much

Basicly I know this has been discussed before about how much HP the S2000 gearbox can take & I think it was around 400hp!?!?!
I spent the day at Garrett Turbos last friday and had a long in depth chat with the production director about what size turbo to put on my engine.
Now he raised a question about how much torque the gearbox can or can't handle!!!! I knew the HP figure but not the torque, does anyone know??? because he said it didn't really matter what the HP limit was but more the torque limit!

Thanks in advance

Andy

I don't think we have seen the gearbox impacted at all since the clutch goes first and the diff next.

I've replaced my clutch... replaced my diff... and just got the news that my tranny has issues. Not exactly sure what yet but I'm fairly certain it the synchros plus a little more. I'll keep you posted.

I would expect that the synchros wouldn't be effected at all by additional power. The bearings and gears would be the concern, right?

Thanks guys, I'm aware that the clutch and diff go first & I'm currently looking into upgrading them so thats the reason I asked about the tranny.
I know over here in the UK a couple of guys on stock engine/clutch/diff's have had gearbox problems some 2 or 3 times saying it gives out a buzzing noise before it goes!?!?! kind of like when you get feed back in your speakers.

Let us know what your outcome is BS2KT it would be a help to know of any possible problems.

Stock clutch can barely suppourt standard horsepower, (see my post HERE ), so I'm sure that have to be upgraded in the case of a powerboost operation.

I have the buzzing... What I don't have is the money to dump in to the rebuild. I should have just bought a Hybrid. I am still in awe that the Hybrid drivetrain can handle hundreds more horsepower than the S2000 with no issues. It's pretty pathetic. I have nothing but regrets at this point of making the S2000 my project car. A waste of $70k if you ask me.
