Default How many 4K RPM clutch drops before it breaks?

How many clutch drops in the 4,000 RPM range can you make in an S2000 before something breaks or has to be replaced? I am sure that Honda has to have some type of durability test results for the clutch.

My guess is about 2 million... at 4000 RPM's the S2000 isn't exactly a snarling beast... more like a Furby.

i would think at 4000, you would do MORE harm then if you dropped it at say 5500...

at 4000 rpm u arent making very much power, and i think by not spinning the tires you put MORE stress on the whole drivetrain

I agree.

You put a lot more stress on driveline components when you don't break traction.

I agree that in some cases a lower RPM drop can be more harmful, when it doesn't break the tires loose.

One thing to remember is to "pre-load" the drivetrain before doing any type of launching. Pre-loading simply means letting up on the clutch enough that the car moves an inch...this gets everything in the drivetrain touching, and without space between gears, etc. This will eliminate much of the shock that a launch gives on the drivetrain.
