1st s2000 went out at 45k, just out of the blue driving home then went out. 2nd s2000 went out at 80k. 3rd s2000 its completely out right now with 51k but its supercharged, it was expected to go quick.

you can probably expect a clutch to last between 1 mile and ur death, in general terms.

having said that, mines went out at 78k miles, i don't know why???

I have about 90k miles on my 2001. There are absolutely zero signs of clutch slippage, however my shifting has become increasingly notchy.

Is this a sign that the clutch could be wearing out even though it is not slipping? Or does this sound like more of a transmission issue?

When was the last time you changed the tranny fluid?

Less than a month or about 800 miles ago i changed the tranny fluid with the new honda MTF but it didn't seem to make any differene at all in shifting notchiness...

^ And before this I have always changed the tranny fluid at least every 10k miles, it always seemed to help shifting feel a bit more smooth but this last time it didn't seem to have any effect

My clutch lasted almost 200k miles. When we pulled it, the disc and flywheel were still in great shape, but the release bearing exploded. Really all depends on how you drive it.

I'll give you the prescription for fixing my shifting notchiness. Changed to fresh Honda MTF, lubed the shifter as per the TSB (made a huge difference), lubed the slave cylinder plunger and shift fork, adjusted the clutch rod to get the clutch engaging where I wanted it to. The tranny shifts like it was brand new. I also swapped in fresh fluid into the clutch system and bled it, but that was more of a maintenance thing, doesn't directly affect shifting.

You might want to check to see if your clutch master cylinder is leaking, once they begin to fail the tranny shifting becomes worse.
