How to know when engine temp is ready for pushing the pedal to the metal
hey there,
how do u guys know when your engine temp is ready for hard accelerating ? My engine "water temp" is at the operating temp after like.. 5 minutes ? But I think the oil needs a lot longer (and oil is more important than water) ?
My water temp is normally ar 84-90 celsius degree (183 - 195 fahrenheit).

are u serious ? The normal water temp should be at 8-10 bars (maybe +- a little) ?!
At 3 bars (that happens to me after 2 mins of driving) NOTHING in your engine can be an operating temps?

I usually assume once the engine temp gauge reads normal operating temp that it's ready to go. If you are concerned just take it easy for a few minutes afterward. I think it's a little overkill but you can never be too cautious I guess.

I pay attention to how the transmission shifts, since I prefer everything to be near operating temperature before going full throttle. Once the transmission shift is smooth, then its ready.

Once the water is up to temp, the oil usually is also, or is close to getting there. If its a very hot and sunny day, that might cause the water to heat up quicker than the oil. Best bet is to just wait a few min after water is up to temp.
You can also get an oil pressure or a temp gauge to be sure. If your car is NA, a few degrees under operating temp really shouldn't hurt it anyway
