I broke my clip too, while detailing the car. Even if I did order a new one, I didn't want that thing dangling (or removed with a big hole) and looking ghetto (it's my only car) while waiting on the new one in the mail.. so I used double-sided tape and it's been solid and on there real good for 11 months already. Ended up not even ordering a new one.

I had a torn water ski boot - probably from the 1970's - with that pliable rubber about 3/8th inch thick. I wedged that in on the broken side and now 2 or 3 years later it is still on, with the replacement piece banging around in the secret compartment. I can't remember how I did it, but nothing is visible from the outside of the car.
