I want to know if the clutch the op is talking about was the 6 puck clutch.....

Just got a act hd clutch kit (sprung 6 puck disc) and i don't know if i should ditch the disc and go with a oem disc to prevent the buzz sound.

the TSB was for the "old type" Friction Disc that creates buzz and replaced by the new type.

22200-PCX-005 old type Disc Friction

Never use the old type and ensure your dealer use the new version and not old stock one.

Hey I believe it was a 6 puck I ordered its been over a year but yeah 6 sounds right. It was more of a grinding sound only when it would decel but i had ordered the exact fit act rated for the same to go in. It was extremely annoying so I guessed it was the clutch buzz but I guess I was wrong. Anyway it did fix the decel buzz and other than that the act clutch is amazing I love the feel and it is way better than stock.

I replaced my stock clutch with the ACT 6-puck sprung and it buzzed like mad. Drove me nuts. I swapped back to the OEM disk after less than a month and no more buzz.

A TO bearing will not cure what is known as clutch buzz here on s2ki.

You may have had a noise, but it wasnt "clutch buzz".

Clutch decel buzz is ALWAYS caused by a non-precise disc, allowing the disc to clamp down in a non-centered position. The TO bearing is not in the equation at this point.

ACT disc is famous for it. Stock disc will cure it.
I had always heard that it was the dampening springs in the hub. I was planning on getting a solid hub organic disc made by ACT, CC, or similar. My thinking was this would fix the clutch buzz while shedding a little weight and providing a sportier feel. Am I way off base here? Could you provide a little more insight on what part of the disc is not precise that is making the noise?
Can anyone provide any insight on this? What is the exact cause of the buzz, springs or non precise disc?

The Honda tsb says that it is the springs in the original friction disk. Says that the newer friction disc has better designed springs that don't produce the buzz. However, this is specifically for the OEM friction disk. I am sure it translates over to aftermarket parts though.
