How far should your clutch pedal be pushed in...
Before you start feeling resistance? I can push my clutch pedal down about 1 1/2" to 2" before I start feeling any resistance. Is that normal? Also when I'm shifting the clutch seems to engage almost immediately when I let up on it. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing I'm just not used to that. There hasn't been any slipping or anything. I just came from a BMW 328ci and the clutch didn't engage until it was about half way up when releasing it.
Does everything sound normal?

If you're getting lower resistance when first pressing the clutch pedal and the engagement point is near the end of the pedal stroke, it sounds like you have air in your clutch line and you likely have a low clutch fluid level. You might be getting some gear grinding and difficulty shifting into gear as well if this is the case.
First, check your clutch fluid level. Is it low? Even if it isn't you should replace all the clutch fluid and bleed the line. If you haven't done this recently you should do it anyway. It's a relatively easy procedure.

But the "floppy feeling" of having some travel before feeling resistance is just excess play most likely which is should be adjustable. I have lots of clutches I liked and a few I did not, but none were the exactly the same in feel. If you are new to the car, it might be just something you need to get used to.
